Introduction
Welcome to Twisted Worlds. We know the place can be a bit confusing, so a guide has been created by some of our members to help new people along. We hope that it helps you understand the board better, and to have fun during your stay.

Note: Underlined text = Link to another part of the message board or another site. All links will open in a new window.

A Quick Note Before We Begin...
Twisted Worlds is an Online Text Based Roleplaying Game. Wikkipedia has an entry for OTBRPG's that the Administrators feel would be helpful to those who are new to OTBRPG's altogether. To Read it, follow the link below.

Getting Started
So, you've looked around a bit, and are thinking about playing. Want to know more? Of course you do.

As Twisted Worlds is essentially a free form game, with some moderators to over see player to player conflicts, there are few (if any) restrictions on what your character can do or be. Being a God is possibly the only thing off limits. Be rich, be poor, be beautiful, be disfigured, the choice is up to you.

So to set about making a character, register an account so that you have a log in for the forums. Then follow the simple guide further down the page to create a character account, also know as a sub-account, although this is not mandatory, it helps if you want to make more than one character.

Setting & Location
So, want to know more about the world that Twisted Worlds is set in? Then try the Maps & Lore forum for detailed information about the gaming world. I have found that the most useful information can be found in the History of the Shrouded Region, which will tell you more about the Sealed City and other locales that have become the backdrop for major plotlines over the course of the game. You can also find Maps, and a summary of the Gods and Deities and the Kingdoms surrounding the shrouded region.

Rules & Regs
Twisted Worlds runs the most smoothly when everyone adheres to the guidelines laid down by the founders, so please be considerate of the other players, even if you are beating the sh*t out of their character, or visa-versa and follow the game rules.

The over all rules of the game and the board, in both it's RP and OOC aspects, are listed here. So read them, as this is possibly the most important document for your gaming experience.

The rules/guidelines for combat situations, probably more interesting for many of the roleplayers out there, can be found here. These are useful if you plan to, like, y'know....FIGHT anyone.

Technical Doodads
This forum has many features. If you have any problems, try out the Frequently Asked Questions before pouncing on one of the loverly Super Administrators (listed on the front page) for help. Below is a few of the most used features.

-Sub accounts-

On TW you are limited to only two main accounts. Main accounts are the ones you need a user name and password for, and have to login to on the main page. However, both main accounts can have as many sub accounts under them as you feel you can play. Heres how to go about setting up a sub account.

Once you've registered/logged in, go to your control panel. This is the link in the top right corner labeled 'Control Panel/Options'. Once there there will be a link at the top labeled 'Character Management' go there and click 'Create New'. This will take you to a blank character "sheet".

Fill everything out as you would for a normal account. Don't forget to check the 'add new' box, or else it won't work. Most of its pretty self explanatory. There is a small drop down box at the end of each profile that says 'Keep Main account Invisible while posting?' What that means is..

Selecting 'Yes' makes your sub account appear as a normal account. Only Super Admins will be able to see who plays it. Selecting 'No' makes the words "Character played by 'your user name'" appear in each of your posts under your characters name.

There is no limit on characters here. Play whatever you want. The only exception is God characters, which must be approved by the admins before hand. Everything else is up to you. Start out with no abilities at all and work your way up, or start out as a powerful mage, there are no real limits.

-Credits-

Credits are the RP money system on TW. You use them to buy and sell things in the roleplays. All new members automatically start out with 100 credits, but you can gain more by doing the following things; Starting up a shop of some kind and selling things, waiting patiently for the admins to pay all the members, or you could go to an admin if you feel your character needs more credits. We prefer you have a good reason for wanting more credits though.

The credits work like this; If your character buys something from a shop or from the pub, you must pay the person you bought the item from. We'll use a 10 credit item as an example. Once you have bought it in the actual RP, go to the main page of the forum, to the left of the shoutbox where it says "Welcome Username" there will be options there- Control Panel, U2U, Buddy List, etc etc.

Go to Cash Transfers, select from the drop down list whether you want the credits taken from your main account or from a sub account (if you have one). Type the amount of credits, in this case 10, into the text box. Select the person you're giving the credits to. This would be the person/character you bought from in the RP. Check the confirm box so that the transaction gets sent through correctly, and hit submit.

What this does is take those credits from your account, and adds them to the other person's. Much like the sub accounts its pretty much self explanatory once you take a good look at it.

-Switch Accounts-

The switch accounts option is mostly for people who are using two main accounts, or for people who use shared computers. In your control panel/options, go to 'Edit Profile'. You should see a small section close to the top of your profile labeled "Alternate Account" this will have a place for an alternate user name and password. Put the user name and password of your other account, or of whoever you share a computer with in there, then scroll down and hit 'Edit Profile' like normal.

Once you have done this, a new option 'Switch Accounts' should appear in the top right corner, next to the 'Logout' option. When you click this, it will automatically log you out and switch to the alternate account. Too keep some accounts secret, when you switch, your previous account will still show up in the whosonline page.

What now?
I suggest reading the In character forums to get a feel of the roleplay going on, especially in the Shrounded Region. You can also introduce yourself and your character(s) in the Book of Souls, or join in the chatter in the OOC forums.

To start roleplaying, pick what looks like a likely location, post a new thread, and....start roleplaying your character. Examples of people's first threads can be found here:
Aisling's Church Conversion

A quick tip: Generally, as a new person, you'll want to join roleplays already in progress, before you start your own. This is because there is often a lot that is already going on in Twisted Worlds, and if you try and start your own roleplay, people may be to busy to join in it.
